My 18th Birthday

My 18th birthday is among one of the events that I could never ever forget.

The night consisted of an intimate dinner with really good food, catching up with friends, some gift giving, the traditional singing of ‘Happy Birthday’ complete with the blowing of the candles, and a whole lot of picture taking. Overall, it was one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time.

Though it was not some big debut with 500 guests held in a fancy hotel wherein the celebrant was wearing a really extravagant ball gown, it was the perfect birthday celebration for me. It was held at Cafe 1771 over at the El Pueblo center in Ortigas and I had my family and some of my closest friends celebrating with me.

Traditional debuts would have the dancing of the 18 roses, the 18 candles, etc etc, but I didn’t have those. No program, no dancing, not even drinking but I’m perfectly content and happy with that since a) that’s just not me, b) I’m fairly certain that I don’t need those, and c) I despise being at the center of everyone’s attention.

So this is me, on my very first day of being a legal adult.

Now as for the venue, all I can say is that Cafe 1771 embodies my personal style. It’s no wonder why my cousins chose this place for me to celebrate my 18th.

It was decorated with pictures of me throughout my childhood to my teenage years, some were really embarrassing photos actually.

My friends surprised my with this gorgeous two tier customized cake from Sonjia’s! I was actually speechless. The cake was so…me and I really loved it.

My best friends also surprised me with notes from my acquaintances and close friends. This is by far the sweetest and nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. I felt so grateful for the hard work and dedication that they put into it. They even kicked me out of my class’ group for this!

And now, I’m going to thank some people!

Here’s to the BEST, best friend in the whole world! Thank you so much for going the extra mile to make my day really special! Thank you heyjao!! You don’t know how much you mean to me.

Thank you also to my family! To the fabulous Auntie Lily! To the best mom in the whole world. I love you!!! And of course, to my most beautiful cousins!!

To Chynna! Thank you for taking photos and for always being your gorgeous self. Thanks for the banner and everything else!

To my favorite couple!! Thank you so much for the wonderful Harry Potter gifts! I love the wand and the glasses! Thank you for indulging me in my Harry Potter addiction. :)

I’ve never felt so loved and appreciated in my life. Thank you so much to all my friends and family! Each one of you is a blessing to me. I love you all!
